Aedes albopictus  (Stegomyia albopicta):                   

Proboscis: dark...head with silver-white scales forming pin stripe

Palps:        short, dark with silver-white tips.

Thorax:      dark dorsal side with silver-white scales forming pin stripe...lateral sides with broad patches of silver-white scales

Abdomen:    Silver-white scales form basal bands on the segments.

Legs:          dark with silver-white basal rings on tarsi

Bionomics:Breeds in tree holes, rock holes and manmade containers...multiple broods...May to October...flies short distance ( less than 1/2 mile ).

Diseases:   Vector of EEE, WNV and Dengue fever.
