Permit (PDGP) Update
The State Water Control Board is in the
process of amending and reissuing a VPDES general permit for
discharges resulting from the application of pesticides to
surface waters. Please see the attached
Notice of Intended Regulatory Action
(NOIRA) and consider assisting with VMCA
representation on the Technical Advisory Committee. Please
contact Randy Buchanan (804-349-3201), Legislative Committee
Chairperson, if interested. The public comment period is
April 23 to May 23, 2012.

Many thanks to William Norris, Fred
Cunningham, Elleanore Daub and Burton Tuxford of VDEQ for
putting together and working with a great VPDES Technical
Advisory Committee (TAC). The TAC included several VMCA
members (Joe Simmons, Randy Buchanan, Mike Elberfeld, Marcus Leeper, Charles
Abadam and Tim DuBois) and it looks like Virginia will have a
General Permit that is good for 2 years during the first round.
There will be no registration required, no fees and
only reports for adverse incidents. For more detailed
