Ochlerotatus atlanticus

Proboscis:    dark scaled

Palpi:            short, dark

Head:        Broad median stripe of white lanceolate scales extending forward between the eyes.

Thorax:   dark except for a silver-white to pale-yellow scaled narrow median stripe extending the entire length of the scutum...plueura with small patches of  broad flat grayish-white scales.

Abdomen:    dark scales with basal triangular patches of white scales laterally.

Legs:        dark scaled except for pale posterior surface of femora.

Wing:       Length about 3.0 to 3.6 mm...narrow dark scales.

Bionomics:    Larvae found in temporary pools in open fields and in wooded areas...larvae have been found March to November. They are persistent biters...in shade and even in open sunlight. Flight range is 1/4 to 1/2 mile.
